Dispatching is one of the conditions for safe operation
According to p. 9.8. Rules of installation and safe operation of elevators, passenger and cargo-passenger elevators must be equipped with two-way communication with the control room.
That is, in case of an emergency (for example, in case of a stuck elevator), the passenger should be able to instantly report it from the cabin to the dispatcher.
Dispatch point can be an individually equipped post for the dispatcher (for one or more houses), security post, or ordinary concierge. Refusing to install dispatch communication, the owner of elevator equipment not only violates the norms, but also exposes the lives of residents to danger, and exposes himself to penalties from regulatory authorities.
Connection options
Today there are two options for connection – wired and wireless (GSM, Internet, etc.) communication. Let’s consider them in detail.
Wired dispatch communication is a system that provides a connection between the dispatch center and the elevator cabin using a cable. Wired communication usually provides a more reliable and stable connection than wireless technologies. However it has a disadvantage – it is costly and not always technically possible to lay a cable from the equipment to each elevator cabin, especially in a large residential complex.
That is why customers more often prefer wireless communication (e.g. GSM). This is a simpler option, both technically and in terms of cost. For communication between the dispatcher and the elevator is installed equipment using a SIM card. The operator is chosen at the discretion of the customer. For the smooth operation of this option, it is necessary to refill the balance of the number in time.
And even here there are several options: for each elevator you can use an individual mobile number, or save even more by using one number for several elevators.
Additional functions
Speaking about elevator dispatching, it is worth noting that modern equipment can provide not only communication between the dispatcher and the elevator cabin to call emergency services, but also perform many other functions that can significantly improve the quality of elevator service. For example, a stationary control center in the non-stop mode allows you to:
- monitor the operation of elevators and provide appropriate signals to the control panel in case of unauthorized entry into the machine room and elevator shaft; breaking the security circuit; opening the doors of the shaft when there is no cabin on the floor; other abnormal situations;
- monitor the state of voltage in the electric network and signalize in case of anomaly;
- collect information on the operation of individual parts of the elevator equipment and transmit it to the central console;
- create a complete database of elevator operation modes for detailed analysis of the operation process, as well as to create a schedule of preventive maintenance.
The choice of this or that variant depends on technical capabilities, expediency of installation, and, of course, financial ability.
