CCTV monitoring in the elevator – protection from vandals

Video surveillance – basic nuances
1. To install video surveillance in residential apartment buildings it is necessary to:
- put forward a proposal for installation at a meeting of housemates. The installation will be considered legitimate if at least 51% of housemates are present at the meeting and the majority (but not less than 51%) agree to the installation;
- obtain permission to interfere with the design from the manufacturer, according to paragraph 6.1.10 of the Rules of the installation and safe operation of elevators, and from the company that maintains elevators;
- select up to 4 persons, e.g. from among the board members and maintenance personnel, who will have access to the camera recordings, as the information contained on them should not become publicly available.
2. Install video surveillance in elevators of public buildings is much easier, it is enough to obtain the consent of the manufacturer (6.1.10 – Rules of the installation and safe operation of elevators) and the company that maintains elevator equipment.
After installation of the equipment, it is obligatory to install notification signs about the operation of video cameras.
