Types of cargo elevators

In contrast to passenger elevators, cargo elevators can work with both internal and external control, with or without elevator escort:

• with internal control: a distinction is made between elevators with automatic door closing and manual (in this case transportation of people and cargo is carried out only by an elevator operator who is inside the cabin);
• with external control: the elevator is sent to the desired floor with the help of an external control panel; it is designed only for transportation of goods, transportation of people is strictly prohibited.

By type of drive, like passenger elevators, elevators for cargo transportation can be electric or hydraulic.
In addition to cargo elevators with a cabin, there are elevating platforms for cargo transportation. This type of elevator is a platform with a fence, swing doors, and manual control. Such elevators are also mounted in a shaft (concrete, brick) or an attached metal structure, they have a traction mechanism and ropes. Such platforms are often used for cargo delivery in supermarkets and shopping centers.
